Reflexology

What is reflexology?

Reflexology is a complementary therapy that encourages the body to re-balance and heal itself.

It is a holistic treatment which considers that the physical, mental and emotional states are interconnected and as such should be treated as a whole in order to achieve harmony in the body.

How does reflexology work?

A reflexologist works on points on the feet or hands that relate to organs glands and systems within the body.  These points are known as reflex points and a reflexologist uses their thumbs and fingers to apply pressure on these points in order to clear any blockages and toxins and to help promote a free flow of energy around the body.

Who can benefit from reflexology?

• An ever increasing number of people are using this safe and natural therapy, which is suitable for most adults, children and babies, as a complement to conventional medicine.

• The NHS and other health care practitioners are now referring patients with acute and chronic conditions to reflexologists although reflexology should not be used initially as an alternative to seeking medical advice. Some private health insurance plans will pay for treatments with AOR registered reflexologists like myself.

• Businesses are also now recognising the benefit of reflexology in the work place.  There is a view that as it may help employees cope with the effects of stress it may then help to create a healthier, happier and more productive workforce.
